The 4th Street chair stands as a geometric marvel, its sharp lines softened by a pastel palette that mirrors the soft light of a Miami morning. The lifeguard towers of Miami Beach are more than just functional safety structures—they are "Tropical Deco" totems that define the city’s visual identity. Following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, architect William Lane was commissioned to redesign these stands, turning them into whimsical, kaleidoscopic icons. Each tower, from the lighthouse-inspired spire at South Pointe to the neon-drenched circles of 10th Street, tells a unique story of Miami's culture, from its Art Deco roots to its inclusive, high-energy future.

Richard Silver’s photography captures these structures with a focus on their architectural verticality and vivid, sun-drenched palettes. By isolating these towers against the expansive Atlantic horizon or the pristine white sands, Silver highlights their personality—treating them less like buildings and more like the "Moai of the Atlantic." These prints bring a burst of Miami heat, retro charm, and architectural playfulness to any modern space.
