Each "Time Slice" photo consists of 36 individual images taken before, during, and after sunset, sliced together to show the dramatic change from day to night in a single photograph. The fluid, organic curves of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, designed by the legendary Zaha Hadid, provide the perfect subject for this study of light. As the slices move from left to right, the building evolves from a crisp, sculptural white form under the sun into a glowing, ethereal silhouette against the Azeri night.
